Jon Fitch, who fights out of San Jose, California, has been an active fighter since 2002. The recently engaged Fitch fought his first UFC fight on October 3rd, 2005, as he beat American Brock Larson. His only UFC loss was to George St. Pierre as part of the UFC 87: Seek and Destroy event. Since that time, Fitch has won three in a row. The first came over Japanese fighter Akihiro Gano, followed by Brazilian Paulo Thiago and American Mike Pierce. This will be the third fight in the last eight for Fitch against a Brazilian fighter.
Thiago Alves started training to fight at the age of 14. When he turned 19 years old he moved to Coconut Creek, Florida to begin training full time with American Top Team. His UFC debut came at UFC Fight Night 2, where he lost to Spencer Fisher. His next fight was a lot better, as he knocked out Ansar Chalangov. Overall, his record in professional fighting is 17-6.
