Brian Ebersole vs Dennis Hallman Odds

Brian Ebersole is an MMA veteran who made his UFC debut against Chris Lytle on short notice at UFC 127. Ebersole was a fairly large underdog at +250, but didn’t show it, as he outworked Lytle in the last two rounds to secure the decision. Now, he’s looking to improve to 2-0 in the UFC.

Dennis Hallman is also an MMA veteran, perhaps best known for twice defeating Matt Hughes by quick submission before Hughes attained his legendary status. In 2009, Hallman was brought back to the UFC, where has compiled a 2-1 record. His first fight saw him lose in very controversial fashion to John Howard, Hallman dominated Ben Saunders in an upset, and then most recently Hallman knocked former top 10 welterweight Karo Parisyan out in the first round. Like Ebersole, Hallman is not considered particularly close to a title shot, but with a win here he will be one step closer to being recognized as a UFC contender.

While Hallman has shown few flaws in his last three performances, in retrospect, they aren’t that impressive. Howard and Saunders are not particularly well known for their takedown defense, and the Parisyan that Hallman fought was but a shadow of his former self. In fact, all three fighters have since been cut from the promotion.

In Ebersole’s case, it’s very tough to figure out what to take from his performance. He undoubtedly showed that he’s a big physical welterweight, he did a great job of pushing Lytle up against the fence, and showed fantastic submission defense. With that said, it’s arguable the knee he landed in the second round might have been lucky, and it’s tough to say how the course of the fight would have gone had that knee not been landed. Outside of the UFC, Ebersole’s only recent loss has come at the hands of top ranked middleweight Hector Lombard, however he has not exactly impressed in his wins on the smaller shows.

The bookies opened Ebersole close to -200, however the public has bet this fight to even odds. Personally, I’m siding with the bookies on this one. Hallman typically wins his fights by outwrestling his opponents, however I see Ebersole being the bully here. The Brian Ebersole vs Dennis Hallman prediction is that Ebersole beats Hallman up against the fence landing occasional takedowns for three rounds to score the unanimous decision.

Conclusion: At the Brian Ebersole vs Dennis Hallman odds, a small play on Ebersole is warranted, given the well rounded game he showed against Lytle.
