UFC 92 Overview

UFC 92 is taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on the 27th December 2008. The main event of the evening pits UFC Light Heavyweight champion and season one Ultimate Fighter winner, Forrest Griffin against the undefeated Rashad Evans. There are some other big fights taking place at UFC 92 including Frank Mir against Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Quinton Jackson against the “Axe Murderer” Wanderlei Silva.

The “co-main event” fight is Frank Mir against the Brazilian Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira the winner of this fight is set to take on Brock Lesnar in a unification fight in the early parts of 2009. Frank Mir holds a professional record of 11 wins, including a first round win against current UFC Heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar with 3 losses. Nogueira is a submissions expert, 19 of his 31 wins have come via submission. It all of Nogueira’s 36 fights he has never been stopped and 2 of his 4 losses have come via split decision.

Fromer UFC light heavyweight champion, Quinton Jackson, is on the come back trail after a loss to Forrest Griffin. Wanderlei Silva stands in Jacksons way he will be hoping he can make quick work of Jackson as he did Keith Jardine in his last fight. Both of these fighters are very experienced (70+ fights between them) so experience shouldn’t be a factor in the outcome of this fight.
