UFC 109 Fight Odds

It’s time for another hot UFC event. This time, UFC 109, will be headlined by Randy Couture “Captain America” and Mark “The Hammer” Coleman. This event will take place on February 6th, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. If you remember UFC 108, after starting slow, with several key injuries, it ended up being a very exciting event. In the Main Card, Junior Dos Santos defeated Gilbert Yvel through a TKO. In a battle of two American’s Jim Miller beat Duane Ludwig via submission; Jau Lauzon beat Canadian Sam Stout. In the Catchweight division Dustin Hazelett beat Paul Daley via TKO, and in the final event Rashad Evens beat Brazilian Thiago Silva.

Randy Couture and Mark Coleman, both in their mid 40’s will fight in what some feel could be one of their last professional fights. Couture, after his win in November 2009 will look to keep up with Coleman, who has a collegiate wrestling national championship under his belt. Couture comes in as the heavy favorite, but with both fighters aging, look for this one to be a long drawn out affair!

Nate Marquardt and Chael Sonnen will represent the 185 lbs fighters. Best known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Marquardt trains out of Denver Colorado. He has been fighting for ten years, and has compiled a 29-8 record. His opponent, Chael Sonnen has won his last two fights, including his win over Dan Miller in June of 2009. Mike Swick and Paulo Thiago will join the fun as they fight during UFC 109. Swick is replacing Josh Koscheck, who had to bow out due to an injury. Swick is known as “Quick” and has an impressive 14-3 record. Thiago, from Brazil has won 12 fights, twice by knockout. In November of 2009, Thiago beat Jacob Voklmann in an unanimous decision. Another match that is sure to catch the eye of fight fans around the world is Demian Maia against Dan Miller. Maia is the lone fighter in UFC 109 that is from a country other than the United States. Maia has been fighting since 2005, when he won in Finland. He has fought some experienced fighters in his four professional years. Miller, is 14-2 is best known for his freestyle wrestling. After winning nine fights in a row, Miller was beat by Chael Sonnen in UFC 98. This fight features two fighters within the 185lbs weight limit.

Matt Serra and Frank Trigg will fight in a battle featuring two fighters at the 170lbs range. Serra, known as “The Terror” is 35 years old, and “Twinkle Toes”, Frank Trigg is 37 years old. Serra is one of the shortest fighters, at just 5′5. He has a record of 9 wins and 6 losses, while Trigg is 19-7 in professional fights.
